Discover the great outdoors in Fayetteville
Love the great outdoors? Fayetteville has you covered. The city is ripe with all types of parks perfect for hiking, biking, dog walking, riding a zipline and in true "City of Heroes" fashion - one that honors those who fought for our freedom.
The North Carolina Veterans Park contains 100 bronze castings of veterans' hands on the Oath of Service Wall, one from each North Carolina county.
Designed for reflection and celebration, the 8-acre park pays tribute to North Carolina veterans. The park, which opened July 4, offers a 3,500-square-foot visitor's center with a "Service Ribbon Wall" made of fused glass, representing every service medal awarded since the Civil War; a chandelier crafted from 33,500 "dog tags;" and an interactive globe. Outside the visitor's center sits the "North Carolina Soils Wall" built with soil collected from the state's 100 counties. There is also a "Story Garden," which allows visitors to hear the personal accounts of veterans. Located at 300 Bragg Blvd. adjacent to the Airborne & Special Operations Museum.
